From the award-winning author of Amelia Dee and the Peacock Lamp.
The water lit up. It danced, it glinted, it gleamed. There were flashes of light everywhere, as if the expanse in front of him wasn't water, but a carpet of jewels. Darius looked questioningly at the torch in his hand. It was just a torch. He looked back at the glittering surface of the water. Then, for the first time, he glanced up.
What he saw was enough to dazzle anyone. But was it really what it appeared to be? And more importantly, was it enough to get the family out of the terrible trouble they were in? If anyone was going to find out, it was Darius Bell.
A warm, wise story from one of Australia's master storytellers, about a boy, his friends, his family, and the way a bit of luck and a lot of determination can turn the worst day of your life into the best.
Darius Bell and the Glitter Pool
Those who enjoyed reading the book by Odo Hirsch's, Bartlett and the Ice Voyage, are guaranteed to enjoy Darius Bell and the Glitter Pool. A story that will inspire you to be all that you can be and to not take advantage of your friends or family. Darius Bell and the Glitter Pool will mostly appeal to younger readers that enjoy adventure stories and learning about friendship, loyalty, persistence and family from the age of nine to twelve.
An adventurous story set in a small town and shows how no matter what happens you have to keep trying and demonstrates how a young boy, (Darius Bell) can help his family and show the whole town something amazing. It also shows that no matter what happens you should always be grateful for what you get. Overall I thought it was a fantastic book that couldn't be put down. Odo Hirsch's style of writing is very captivating and easy to understand.
