On 6 June 1944, now known as D-Day, Allied forces landed on the beaches at Normandy to liberate German-occupied mainland Europe from Nazi control. Codenamed Operation Neptune, the landings constitute the largest seaborne invasion in history, and laid the foundation for Allied victory on the Western Front. Using rare archival footage from the archive at IWM, this flip book recreates Exercise Fabius the largest amphibious training exercise of the war and the final rehearsal for arguably the riskiest military operation in history.
