The September 2006 issue of Cultural Studies Review is edited by John Frow and Katrina Schlunke with Meaghan Morris and Fiona Allon as guest editors.
The work featured here also represents an exchange of ideas between established and emerging researchers from Hong Kong's Lingnan University and Sydney's Cultural Research Centre, who visited each other's cities and institutions.
The essays cover a wide range of preoccupations, ranging from consumption and the process of cultural insertion, as explored in the example of Hong Kong's Disneyland on Lantau Island, to studies on ageism and anti-ageing cultures, and all are framed by explorations of what it means to be doing cultural research "without guarantees", and questions about what constitutes engaged cultural research in the twenty-first century.
Represented authors include Meaghan Morris, Fiona Allon, Shun-hing Chan, Iam-chong Ip, Lisa Leung, Ien Ang, Kimburley Choi, Brett Neilson, Kit-ling Luk and others.
