AUTHOR: Durene Jones currently lives in Durham, in the North East of England, in a little village with lots of countryside and the coast not too far away, which both provide her with lots of design inspiration. She has always been interested in art and crafts, and learning to sew, knit, and crochet at a very young age. At school she studied art and also sewing and dress making. Later she went on to art school to study General Art and Design, where she further experienced a mix of all different art based subjects, as well as more lessons in textiles, embroidery, and surface design. At university she studied Graphic Design, and she has a graphic design degree, so for the first 15 years of so of her career was spent working in graphic design studios in both the North East and in London, in various specialists from newspapers, to magazines, packaging to advertising. But her love of textiles and crafts always stayed with her, and she used to love visiting the haberdashery department in Liberty's department store. She now designs charts for publishing companies in the UK, who sell her designs in cross stitch magazines, and for Tuva Publishing in Turkey who publish her work in their magazine. Also she opened her own Etsy online shop, where she sells her charts as instant pdf downloads.
