The utterly irresistible Amaryllis tells the story of her thirteenth year - witty, charming and occasionally cringeworthy, all stylishly illustrated by the gal herself!
Apart from Amaryllis, the Flowerdew family is seriously uncool. With Dad's all-weather sandals and refusal to have a telly in the house, Mum's dangly earrings and ban on food containing sugar, salt and anything tasty, and little brother Hugo's constant sucky-up, perfect-child behaviour, Amaryllis can't help feeling that something, somewhere, went horribly wrong. She doesn't belong here!
And things are about to get worse. Mr Flowerdew wins a major competition with one of his paintings. Like all his paintings, it is of a naked lady who bears an uncanny resemblance to Amaryllis's mum. But this one is in the papers. How can any self-respecting teenager-to-be cope with this kind of humiliation? Never fear, Amaryllis will find a way – and probably turn the situation to her own advantage . . .
