Out walking far away from anywhere, Bertha comes across a little abandoned house. She sets about repairing the rundown cottage and settles into her new cosy home. There she lives, all alone, until one wet and wintry night animals come from far and wide to take refuge in her shelter. She cannot refuse anyone, and soon her home is full of life. But what will happen in the spring?
