For two years, Diana Banks has been a recluse. The 35-year-old computer security expert hasn't left her home since she returned from Switzerland where, in the shadow of the Eiger, she and her husband, Daniel, had been climbing the icy face of Waterfall Pitch when Daniel slipped. Diana is haunted by the sound of his cry echoing across the gorge and by the image of his body frozen and wedged somewhere in any icy cravasse.
Fortunately for her Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Diana doesn't have to leave the house. After Daniel's death, she and Daniel's best friend, Jake, formed an online-based company that works with major companies to back up and protect their internal data. All of Diana's meetings and projects take place in OtherWorld, an online platform that allows her to work -- and socialize -- using an avatar she's named Nadia.
But when Diana's sister goes missing, Diana must brave the outside world -- and her own personal demons -- to get her back. In so doing she'll uncover a web of deceit and betrayal, both online and real-life.
