This book is a high-end programming guide that covers 20 individual programs. All four possible development environments, ATL, MFC, VB, and VJ++, are covered, as are MTS and COM+ architecture, installation, administration, programming, application usage, and debugging. Users are taught how to create MTS components (in all four programming environments) for both SQL Server 7 and Oracle. They also learn how to create custom components in COM+ for non-databases. MTS technology complements COM+ so the user needs to know both to fully understand and use either.
The CD includes all source code and project files outlined in the book. It also contains customised HTML and ASP development environments, which allow COM programmers to hook their components into the Internet and IIS systems.
