Following the success of our publication for "Collect 07," we are delighted to be working with the Crafts Council again to produce a book featuring the very latest examples of contemporary craft shown at one of the most influential art fairs to have emerged in recent years. Now firmly established as one of the highlights of the international cultural calendar and staged at the Victoria and Albert Museum, "Collect" showcases work by over 350 leading artists representing 15 different countries. It is the only fair in Europe devoted to contemporary applied arts and aims to raise the profile of contemporary craft within the UK and internationally, to encourage private and public collecting, which has resulted in some major acquisitions for galleries and museums, and to stimulate debate about contemporary craft generally. This beautifully designed and comprehensive book includes an essay on the practice of craft by acclaimed furniture maker, John Makepeace; a thought piece on the distinction between craft and applied art by New York art dealer, ceramics expert and writer, Garth Clark; an interview with Sarah Griffin by journalist and TV producer, Emma Crichton-Miller, and an overview on collecting craft by Andrew Renton, Head of Applied Art at the National Museum of Wales.
