Coaching Skills Inventory is a combined behavior and skill assessment designed for managers and leaders as a starting point for understanding and developing their coaching abilities.
The inventory takes approximately 10 minutes to complete; this associated observer version takes 2-3 minutes. The purpose of the inventory is to reveal which of four roles--instructor, mentor, manager and coach--a leader or manager is most likely to adopt when interacting with others. It also reveals how frequently the skills of challenging, listening, asking, encouraging, and refining--foundational skills for successful coaching--are deployed in a coaching conversation. The inventory comprises 40 behavioral, and 10 skill questions, and includes a brief description of each of the five roles--explained in more detail in the related Participant Workbook--and guidance on interpreting the scores (feedback).
