One Hundred Years of Human Progress, Regression, Suffering and Hope 1899-1999.
The twentieth century is the only century which has been recorded exhaustively by the camera. Making full use of this extraordinary resource, 'Century' is an informative and, at times, surprising, visual history of the twentieth century. The photographs, which cover events ranging from the hard history of politics to new inventions, the arts, society and fashion, have been selected by Bruce Bernard, formerly Picture Editor of 'The Sunday Times Magazine'.
The photographs have been drawn from international agencies such as Life, Magnum, Picture Post and Stern, but also include many images which have rarely been seen before. 'Century' is divided into six historically significant periods, chronologically charting the highs and lows of the last 100 years.
