Central Otago is as much a place in people's hearts as a region outlined on a map. It's a special place. A place of holidays. A place touched by golden history. A place where natures most powerful elements combine to create a unique and enchanting environment. A place where the world's finest merino wool is produced.

Photographer Arno Gasteiger and Philip Temple have combined to produce this stunning photographic book that captures the spirit of this unique region.

"Central", as it is called by those that know it, is a land of riches. There are many reasons to come to Central. From some of the country's best fishing to its top vineyards, the thrill of mountain biking through remote tussock to the leisurely pleasure of a stroll through wild mountain flowers.

This book captures that "heart". It includes photographs of some of the more unique activities of the area such as curling, rafting and horse trekking and covers the drama of the four seasons.
