New Concise Edition.
This book, originally published in the eighteenth century and twice updated in the twentieth, is recognised as one of the classical works on Christian sainthood.
This abridgement, based on the 1956 and 1966 editions, chooses one saint for each day of the year, making it ideal for devotional reading. Walsh has concentrated on more modern, better-documented saints, without neglecting the great figures of the more distant past. Some twenty new entries for this New Concise Edition take account of recent canonisations.
A valuable feature is the comprehensive Index, highlighting the saints featured in the book, which is the handiest overall list of saints available, following the revised Roman Calendar of 1969.
