The steely, practical Captain Lionel Redmayne is set upon by unknown assassins who leave his bullet riddled body for dead. Rhiannon finds the wounded man and takes him back to her ramshackle gypsy cart so that she can heal him - along with the rag-tag bunch of animals she's collected. Redmayne does not take kindly to Rhiannon's fussing over him or the convalescence that she enforces.
As their confinement continues and they travel back to the Captain's base to ferret out the would-be-assassin, Redmayne and Rhiannon find themselves falling head over heels in love.
