Sandro Botticelli (1444/45–1510) is one of the most important artists of the Italian Renaissance. His unique works, commissioned by the most powerful Italian families, especially the Medici family, combined the late Gothic tradition with the atmosphere of a humanistic breakthrough and shape our understanding of beauty and culture to this day.
