Ian 'Blink' MacDonald slashed, fought and robbed his way to the top of the Scottish underworld ladder. His reputation earned him an offer as lieutenant to Scotland's most notorious 'Godfather', Arthur Thompson, but MacDonald had other plans, namely to finance a new life in Spain with the u6 million proceeds of a high-risk armed bank raid. It went wrong, however, and MacDonald was jailed for 16 years. On the inside, he befriended scores of high-profile inmates, including Eddie Richardson, the father of snooker star Ronnie O'Sullivan, mass murderer Archie Hall, former bare-knuckle boxer Charles Bronson and various leading IRA terrorists. MacDonald was later accused of blackmailing the lover of his long-time girlfriend and was jailed again following a drug-fuelled night out in Spain. He reveals how a bomb was once planted beneath his car and was eventually firebombed, how he became the victim of a terrifying murder attempt and how a young Paul Ferris became his apprentice in a series of daring raids. In Blink, MacDonald provides a frank account of his highly eventful journey through gangland, culminating in the eventual realisation that drugs create the crazy while prison destroys the sane.
