In a dingy room in Nottingham a motley group is planning to break into a research lab. Two hours later it has all gone very wrong. A security guard has been killed, half the group has bolted, and their leader lies dead in a pool of blood. Only one person saw what happened, but she is so traumatised that she is reduced to a state of catatonic shock.
Reporter Alex Brierley is called out to cover the story. What she unearths is both inhumane and beyond the realms of her imagination. And when she runs up against CIM, a shady crisis control organisation determined to suppress any evidence, Alex realises it will take all of her journalistic and survival skills to uncover the truth . . .
