Follows 'A Flock Of Blats'.
Pinguel lives amongst the blats of Deep Forest. He knows he is not a blat, but Pinguel is happy with Cliffkin, the sorcerer blat who has looked after him since he was a baby. But what exactly is he? Why was his mother pursued by wolves into Deep Forest? Why did she leave Pinguel behind?
When Deep Forest is in danger, Pinguel is chosen for a journey. His friends, an owl and an artist wolf, accompany him, to face the dangers together. And it is on this journey that Pinguel discovers who he really is . . . and who his parents are.
The only hope of survival for Pinguel and the others, is to reach the coast. There they will find Hugo, the boy who saved the blats of the Great Forest, who sails the oceans in the "Orestea", protected by a dragon . . .
