A Biography of Bede Griffiths.
At Oxford in the 1920s Bede Griffiths was a contemporary of Graham Greene and a close friend of C S Lewis. He became a Benedictine monk and, in 1955, went to India where he built up a thriving spiritual community at Shantivanam in Tamil Nadu, which was later visited by thousands.
Bede Griffiths was convinced that Eastern and Western religions were mutually enriching and he was open to all paths by which people seek God. His interests encompassed not only Christian mysticism, Hinduism and Buddhism but also New Age movements and the meeting point of religion and science.
His spirituality and his emphasis on meditation hold great appeal today, especially for young people and for those who seek God but cannot find him in traditional churches. Through lectures worldwide, face-to-face meetings and through his writings, this extraordinarily gifted and unusual man inspired people all over the globe - and continues to inspire us today.
