Beryl Cook: The Bumper Edition

Beryl Cook's wonderful paintings first burst upon an unsuspecting world in 1977, shortly followed by a book. Since then she has kept us entertained with a constant stream of joyful images. Eight books have been published, and all the paintings in those books have now been collected, in 'The Bumper Edition'.

Beryl paints anything and everything she sees around her - visits to shops and pubs, family and friends, travels round Britain and abroad, and quite a few subjects she would like to have seen, but has had to imagine instead, such as Elvis's flight to heaven, and a motley crew of fairies. In these pictures we can fully appreciate her sense of enjoyment in the individuality of ordinary lives.
