In this sweeping fantasy, Jack faces strange and dreadful challenges: antagonistic creatures that are literally half human; winged sets of eyes; people - including his mother - turned to stone. But he has the help of a small, brave dog; a girl transported from the twentyfirst century; and the undying love of his mother. And perhaps enemies can change, too.
