A member of the "Angry Penguins" group which included Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd and Joy Hester, Albert Tucker was one of Australia's most significant artists who will be best remembered for his powerful images of wartime Melbourne. He painted the city streets as they have never been painted before or since: as the home of evil, carnality and darkness.
