This is a superbly illustrated look at the career of sculptor Arturo Berned - including his latest project, MU, in Japan. 2013/2014 marks the 400th anniversary of the sending of the Keicho Embassy to Europe, the first official diplomatic mission sent to Spain by Japan. In celebration of this event and in collaboration with the Pritzker Prize winning architect Toyo Ito, renowned Spanish sculptor Arturo Berned has created the project entitled MU - the title refers to a a blank sheet of paper, an attitude of openness without pre-conceived ideas nor prejudices and is a tribute to Japan and its people. The MU exhibition comprises of eight sculptures, six of which are located in Grin Grin Park, Fukuoka, the seventh can be found at the Spanish Embassy in Tokyo. The eighth and final sculpture, entitled Dual Year and also located in Tokyo, is a 24 metre-long ribbon sculpture that represents the Keicho Embassy's journey, and the 400-year relationship between the two countries. This superbly illustrated volume explores the MU project - from conception to reality - as well as an insightful and informative review of his career.
