A companion volume shows a wide-ranging showcase of works by important living artists working in Africa today. Featuring the works from the Jean Pigozzi Collection, the most well-endowed and significant contemporary African art collections in the world entirely dedicated to artists from sub-Saharan Africa. This volume, published in association with the Grimaldi Forum exhibition in Monte Carlo, profiles the work of 30 leading African artists including painters, photographers, sculptors and video artists whose works illustrate how intrinsically sub-Saharan African Art - with its own values, forms, and cultural history - has absorbed and transformed external influences. The artists featured include Seydou Keita, Frederic Bruly Bouabre, Malick Sidibe, Moke, Cheri Samba, Romuald Hazoume and Bodys Isek Kingelez.
