Long ago, in a time when there was no king in England, a marble stone magically appears outside a London church, with a sword embedded in it. The stone is inscribed with a message that whoever can pull the sword from the stone shall be the rightful king of England. None of the knights is able to pull the sword from the stone, and England remains without a king - until New Year's Day, when a great jousting tournament has been called by the archbishop, and Kay, a young knight, sends his younger brother, Arthur, back to the inn to retrieve his sword. But the inn is locked, and Arthur pulls the sword from the stone - and his true identity and his royal destiny are revealed.
