Heading toward mid life, Tim, a Buddhist for nearly twenty years is struggling. The sediment of familiarity has taken the shine off his trips to Nepal. This trip he intends to sort things out, instead he finds himself in Northern Thailand looking for hermit monks who live in caves. Tim however never finds them. Life takes him down a different path. Where the seeds of his salvation lie in an encounter his father had thirty-seven years before.
Taken from the back of a public jeep by armed soldiers. Tim is catapulted into a complex world of cruelty and strategy, where politics is bigger than the individual and life is cheap. For the first time Tim questions what it is to be a man.
