When old Matthew Cuthbert and his sister Marilla ask the local orphanage for a boy to help out at their farm, Green Gables, they are sent 11-year-old Anne by mistake. Idealistic and outspoken, Anne soon upsets everyone at Green Gables and in the village. but as time passes, Anne learns to control her temper (some of the time) and the Cuthberts come to realise that beneath her bluntness lies a kind heart.
