Small town librarian Emily Jane Todd meets her guardian angel the day she almost kills him with her car. Unable to leave the poor man to fend for himself (he's been knocked unconscious and has amnesia) she allows Michael to come home with her. Of course, she doesn't believe in angels and is convinced that Michael just suffers from delusions after getting conked on the head.
Once back in her little town, Emily tries to sort out her feelings for her ever distant fiancee as well as her growing attraction to Michael. Danger lurks in Emily's quite town however, and Michael becomes torn between the mission he was sent to accomplish, to save Emily's life and his new found desire to become human - and a real live presence in Emily's life.
