Alison Goodman was born in Melbourne and lives in Elwood, and enjoys thinking up stories as she walks the promenade. Alison holds a BA in Professional Writing and Literature from Deakin University and has taught writing in the Graduate Diploma course. Alison has published short stories in anthologies and journals and her short story Dead Spyders received an honourable mention in the US published The Years Best Science Fiction: Fifteenth Annual Collection ed. by Gardner Dazois. Singing the Dogstar Blues was the Winner of the Aurealis Young Adult Award and Shortlisted for the Victorian Premier's Awards.
