The parishioners of Bryntaf aren't shocked when the vicar of St Samson's announces he's divorcing his wife. Some are surprised, though, that he expects to remarry an attractive young widow, and keep his job. But his intentions come to naught when the woman he intended to marry - a hospital consultant - is brutally murdered with one of her own scalpels.
When the circumstances of the crime emerge, it seems that any number of interested parties could have committed it, but only the wily Chief Inspector Parry is sharp enough to deduce the subtle motive which exposes the true culprit.
