World War 2 is coming to an end. Stalingrad has fallen and an Allied victory is imminent. Even Herman Kohler - Gestapo detective - happily begins to plot his mistress's escape to Spain. But then he, along with his partner St-Cyr, are suddenly recalled to Paris.
The detectives arrive to find an atrocity beyond words. The entire first arondissement has been razed to the ground and 50,000 Parisians have been displaced. Panic has set in.
But now it is the elite who are feeling the terror. The finance minister's wife has been brutally murdered in a hit meant for General Petain himself. Someone is after Vichy, and Kohler and St-Cyr must catch these "flykillers" before they threaten the government.
