Rose and Andreas make an exceedingly odd couple in 1980s Cambridge: she is the fifth tallest woman in Britain and he is a penniless post-grad from Germany. But together they set up a lookalike agency with bizarre, and ultimately fatal, results.
Twenty years on, and Andreas is in prison. His days aren't improved by the humdrum letters he receives from his 'pen-palls', Alexandra, a young woman determined to do good works. To keep her at bay, Andreas sends her an untranslated memoir by 'A.H.'. It's not long before Alex's flatmate dusts down his rusty German and the pair find themselves in a netherworld of off-colour 'celebrity' performances, and on the trail of some seriously dangerous lookalikes.
