There are nearly 50 million displaced children in the world, but it's all too easy to overlook them in these fractured times. In 2017, the actor David Morrissey - a goodwill ambassador for UNHCR, the UN's refugee agency - and the journalist Amy Raphael visited Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon. They were horrified by the stories they heard there and came back determined to do something about it. They'd also noticed that the Syrian kids all had favourite premier league teams and thus an idea was born. What if David and Amy engineered an anthology of celebrities interviewing their favourite footballers, with all royalties going to UNHCR? And thus A Game of Two Halves was born.
A Game of Two Halves shows a different side to some of the biggest names in football, reminding us of the common ground we all share. All royalty earnings from this project will be donated to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
