Every image in this extraordinary book was captured on one day - February 28, 2002 - when 100 of the world's top photojournalists fanned out across the entire continent of Africa for a historic 24-hour shoot. Their mission: to capture images that celebrate a vast, vibrant continent in transition.
The diverse photo team from 26 countries included more than a dozen Pulitzer Prize and World Press Photo winners and more than 20 African and African-American photographers.
In addition to Africa's daunting logistical challenges, the photographers faced a technical challenge. 'A Day In The Life Of Africa' is the first book in the celebrated 'Day In The Life' series to utilise digital photography. Every photographer on the shoot was equipped with an Olympus digital camera. Many photographers shot digitally for the first time in their illustrious careers.
