Literary agent Anthea Landau is auctioning off her personal correspondence from novelist Gulliver Fairborn. Her famous ex-client (and Bernie Rhodenbarr's literary idol), who guards his life so jealously that he has never been photographed or interviewed, is outraged by Landau's betrayal - yet he hasn't the money to outbid the collectors. When Bernie breaks into Anthea's apartment to steal the letters back for Fairborn, things go horribly wrong. Bernie is arrested. Now he has to clear his name by solving a murder or two and track down a rival thief.
With wonderfully quirky characters, twists and turns galore, 'The Burglar In The Rye' is another riotous triumph for the outrageous Bernie Rhodenbarr.
