A YOUNG WOMAN is discovered hanged in a room in a decrepit hotel with a mysterious note near her body. When Gothenburg's Chief Inspector Erik Winter investigates, he realizes that it is the same hotel room that was, twenty years earlier, the last known location of a woman who disappeared and was never found. The two women seem to have nothing in common except for this hotel room, but Winter suspects that there may be other connections-and that both women might have even fallen prey to the same killer.
