Bob Hoover has been in the air for almost sixty years. A highly decorated combat pilot, he saw distinguished service in World War II, finally escaping from a German POW camp by stealing a German plane and flying to Holland. He would go on to an astonishing career as a test pilot, vying with Chuck Yeager to be the first pilot to break the sound barrier. Bob followed his legendary test pilot exploits by becoming the greatest aerobatics pilot who ever lived, performing in more than 25 countries around the world and over 3,000 air shows. Bob Hoover has over 25,000 hours in the air, in more than 300 different aircraft. His involvement with planes spans the history of American aviation. He met Orville Wright, knew Charles Lindbergh and Jimmy Doolittle, and is still flying today.
