20 in 2020, the Artists of the Next Decade: Latin America brings together 20 Latin American artists who, according to the editors, will redefine the artistic and cultural horizon in the decade to come. They are not the only ones. For every artist that was invited to participate in this book, several others were passed over. But curation is selection, and selection is exclusion. To face this challenge, the editors opened up a dialogue with a variety of critics, curators, artists and gallery owners in order to discover, from each of them, who might be those artists that they were seeking. An exercise less and less in vogue, the organisers talked a lot and distributed the authority of choice. In a continuous dialogue with their peers, the body of the book took shape, a plurality of songs, voices and accents. Text in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
