This cookbook is anchored by a nearly legendary recipe for a simple roast chicken that Glamour first ran in 2004 and has rerun six times since. The dish got its name after a young Glamour editor was proposed to by her boyfriend the week after she used the recipe, and wrote about it in the magazine's pages. Since then the magazine's editors have heard from more than 50 readers who've gotten engaged soon after cooking the bird. The other recipes come from Glamour's archives -- most appearing in the magazine in the last decade -- and each recipe, like the eponymous Engagement Chicken, will be introduced with a charming, cheeky commentary about its life enhancing qualities. All of the simple, budget-friendly recipes focus on a different specific aspect of life.
