Illustrated by Bronwyn Bancroft
Oodgeroo was born in 1920 on Stradbroke Island in Queensland. Most Australians know her as Kath Walker, the name she was given by white people, but in 1988 she decided to change her name to identify more closely with her Aboriginal heritage. This latest edition of 'Stradbroke Dreamtime' is a favourite with Oodgeroo as it is beautifully illustrated by her Aboriginal friend, Bronwyn Bancroft. Oodgeroo wrote these stories in 1972 while staying at Tamborine Mountain. The stories in this book are in two sections: 'Stories from Stradbroke' and 'Stories from the Old and New Dreamtime'.
